    Key function

Ingredients: grass-fed beef bone broth, beef liver, UC-II® undenatured type II collagen (chicken cartilage, potassium chloride). 1 scoop = 2 g, 60 scoops per jar (4.23 oz, 120 g).

Why UC-II®?

UC-II® is undenatured type II collagen studied for joint support in dogs.See disclaimer Published studies have reported improvements in certain measures of comfort and mobility.

Milligrams, not grams.

Many joint chews give a big dog grams of glucosamine and chondroitin a day. UC-II® is used by the milligram: 20 mg in every scoop.

Daily amounts given to separate groups in two published dog studies.1 40 mg is 2 scoops, the amount for dogs 50 lb and over.

Three things to know about UC-II®

  1. Undenatured

Its collagen keeps its native shape: three strands wound together. Heat can unwind them, which is why we say lukewarm water, not hot.

  2. From chicken cartilage

UC-II® is made from chicken cartilage and kept undenatured. The beef bone broth has collagen protein too, but cooked, as all broth is.

  3. Studied in dogs

At 40 mg a day, the amount in 2 scoops, UC-II® was given to healthy adult Labradors for 13 weeks in a placebo-controlled study.2

Undenatured (UC-II®) Strands wound together

Heated Strands unwound

Collagen, simplified. Heat unwinds it, so stir Elation into lukewarm water, not hot.

Both gave UC-II at a dose equal to 40 mg of UC-II® as sold today, the amount in 2 scoops (Zapata and Fernández-Parra, Animals 2023), alongside groups given 2,000 mg glucosamine + 1,600 mg chondroitin. Each reported changes within its own groups; neither tested one ingredient against the other. Both were supported by, or co-authored at, InterHealth, which owned UC-II® then. They tested the ingredients, not Elation.

Independent testing

On a beach at sunset, a senior yellow Labrador canters happily through the shallows beside its owner, looking up at her.

How Elation started.

It began with our family dog. Joint products we bought were always left uneaten. So I set out to make one that’s part of their meal.

How much do I give?

One scoop a day under 50 lb, which is 20 mg UC-II®. Two scoops a day at 50 lb and over, which is 40 mg UC-II®. Sprinkle it on any meal, dry or stirred into a little lukewarm water.

I already give a joint chew. How do I switch?

Ask your vet about overlapping the two for a few weeks; there’s no need to stop on day one. Start Elation at half a scoop for the first 3 days.

Can I give it with medication, or to a dog with a food sensitivity?

Ask your vet first, and keep giving anything they’ve prescribed. Elation is a topper, not veterinary care. It contains beef, beef liver (natural copper) and chicken cartilage, so check with your vet about a beef or chicken sensitivity or a copper-restricted diet.

Is it for puppies, or pregnant or nursing dogs?

Elation is made for adult dogs. Safe use in puppies, pregnant or nursing dogs, or dogs intended for breeding hasn’t been established, so ask your vet first.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes, online, anytime, with no fee or minimum. We email you 3 days before every order, and you can skip or pause instead.
